Why it’s interesting
PHNTM One is Jacob DeCamp’s desktop AI prototype, still undergoing release testing. Its Raspberry Pi 5, 8 GB RAM, touchscreen and push-to-talk microphone run Gemma 3 4B locally. The appeal is putting chat, memory, reminders, document retrieval and voice in a physical box. The homepage’s 17-second interface clip is edited from device footage, not a speed benchmark; its 26-second brand film is an AI-created illustration.
How to try it
Start with the free demonstrations. The guided web simulation is not a remote device connection. Checked on October 2, 2026: only free reservations are open; ordering is paused. Reservations require no card or payment and never become orders automatically. The live homepage and policies list USD 799, plus applicable tax, when ordering opens. No launch or shipping date is confirmed. The stated 7–10-business-day window applies after a future paid order, not to a reservation today. Recheck price and regional terms when ordering actually opens.
Requirements and sources
Current sales policies cover US addresses. For now, view the demonstrations rather than expect an immediately purchasable device. Local use requires no account or mandatory subscription; optional cloud services can cost extra. The press kit describes a slow, limited local model that can answer confidently but incorrectly. Offline and privacy claims come from the maker, not our own hardware or security testing. The credited cover is an officially permitted AI-retouched image, not an unretouched photograph. This is not a purchase recommendation.
